Roberto Torralbas has been a staple of Team Lloyd Irvin for the past few years and 2010 looks to be a breakout year for the Purple Belt and leader of Third Law BJJ in Naples, Florida.
Roberto racked up a few Advanced and Purple belt division victories at Maryland, Virginia, and Florida tournaments throughout the year. (Check out the Crazy 88 news page and search for “Roberto Torralbas” for more info). At the World Championships, Roberto lost a 2-0 match to the eventual Bronze medalist after submitting his first opponent. Roberto came back strong in the last half of the year, repeating as IBJJF US Nationals Champion and taking 2nd place at the No-Gi PanAms.
Roberto has set a high-paced competition schedule for himself starting with the IBJJF European Open and including not only the World Championships and PanAms but also the Brasileiro, Rio Open, and US Nationals. He has been coming once a month to train at Camp Springs with Wilson Reis, JT Torres, Mike Fowler, Lloyd Irvin, etc – something he did not do in previous years. This improved training regimen and tough competition schedule will pay big dividends for the Team Lloyd Irvin member in 2010!
